This week we added a new version of the Record Chronograph, designed by Italian maestro Achille Castiglioni for Alessi, to our collection.
The timepiece has a hardwearing Nato strap that’s designed to fit comfortably against the wearer’s wrist. Nato straps were originally developed for British military watches; the textured nylon weave was chosen for its durability and flexibility.
Other features include a stopwatch function, a date window and a 40-millimeter stainless steel dial. The three chronograph dials count seconds, hours and minutes and are activated using the buttons on the side of the case.
Castiglioni designed the Record watch for the Italian design brand in 2000, making it one of the last products he worked on. Swiss graphic designer Max Huber, a close friend of Castiglinoi, created the distinctive numbers that are printed on the dial. The original Record had a white face and black markings and a red or black strap.
